Dragon Ball Kai thread; just a thought

i like dragon ball kai i dont miss the fillers at all especially when it gets to the cell saga with all that stuff that isnt needed at all

 Dragon Ball Kai is a remastered version of Dragon Ball Z. Kai follows the manga more closely than Z, because Z added a lot of filler in between each Volume since they were released monthly, and the Anime was every week. Kai removes all the extra stuff and follows what happens in the Manga. Also it may be a remake of Z, but they also have a new soundtrack and they redid the script a bit. So you should watch Z then Kai to see just what they cut out, it's kind of interesting. Does that help?

 I think a sub-forum for Kai under Dragonball is worthy. They just had a 15 hour marathon of Kai on Nicktoons and I tried to watch as much as I could. It all led up to Goku transforming into a SSJ for the first time, which btw, was pretty epic to say the least.

All in all, Kai is pretty epic. I've been watching since it premiered back in March or May. There isn't any blood, but the Anime follows the Manga as well as the Japanese dubbing much more closely than Z. The dialogue gives much more insight to the actual plot and is all around more fitting.

The Frieza saga has always been my favorite, and when it came to Z, I always found myself wanting more. I would always look into the Japanese episodes with English sub-titles because they gave more insight and depth. Well, I must say, Kai does the Frieza saga justice! It takes ques from the Japanese dub and incorporates it into the series nicely. For instance, here are a couple examples off the top of my head:

Vegeta's speech to Goku after the Kaioken x20 Kamehameha failed was IMO, much better than Z. However, Z did a better job on Vegeta's first speech to Goku right before Frieza killed him IMO.

Frieza brings up how he is only using 1/3 of his power rather than 1/2 after he and Goku begin fighting again. Just like the Japanese dub.

Frieza admits to almost being killed by the Spirit Bomb rather than saying it just knocked the wind out of him. Exclaiming Goku almost brought him down and he never had a call quite so close.

Goku tells Krillin and Gohan to run and that he wont be joining them, rather than a set of calm instructions to get to the spaceship.

They got rid of that stupid line by Frieza, "Pop goes the weasel" and replaced it with, "I think the brat should go next" which is very similar to the Japanese version.

The whole environment just has a more apparent feeling of desperation than Z ever conveyed to me. The fear and panic of their situation resonated with me more.

Oh and Goku's SSJ scream was pretty beastly too. :cool:

Sorry for such a long post. I haven't been on in 3 months or so, I just really enjoyed the 5 or 6 Kai episodes leading up to Goku's SSJ transformation. I feel they really did it justice! =P

 IMO Everything Vegeta says in Kai isn't as Epic as it was in DBZ.

 I like a lot of what Vegeta said in both. However, his speech before he died by Frieza was more epic in Z.

But see, that's why we need a sub-forum to compare! ^_^

 I think Piccolo seems sort of different in Kai, not much, but his voice seems more calmer imo, and slightly more deeper. Does anybody else notice that?

 I must agree with a previous point; the intro scene is amazing for Kai!! <3

I think it would have been fantastic if the entire thing looked like it but I'm certainly happy with it how it is :p

I'll bring up the Kai Sub-forum with a few people over the next couple of days ^^
